About me…

I grew up in Richmond, Virginia, with two sisters and three brothers in a happy home that was filled with love, books and music. My selfless parents raised the six of us to live by old-fashioned values.

Nevertheless, I was strong-willed. From time to time, while I was in Catholic elementary school, the nuns gave me hand whacks with a hefty ‘board of education,’ long before that sort of thing was outlawed.

My validation for self-expression came later in public high school from an English teacher. He gave non-traditional assignments like ‘wade in a creek and write about how it feels.’ Finally, my unique feelings mattered, and I had a special way to share them.

Initially unclear about my career path, I studied at three different colleges before earning my liberal arts degree with a focus on communications. I have been an advertising copywriter, a news and features writer, the editor of an employee magazine and a communications editor. Above all, I am proudest of being a mom.

I now write about life, love, loss, motherhood, joys, struggles and survival, as I pursue publishing my debut novel and a children’s book.

When I’m not writing? Reading a wonderful book, sipping on hot tea, taking walks and photographs, spending time with friends and family, traveling and experiencing all things creative enriches my life.

Presently, I reside in Midlothian, Va., just west of Richmond and have fond memories of living in Charleston, S.C., for ten years.
